I really enjoy the 7 minute walk from our apartment to the carpool meeting spot. It give me and Vivian 7 minutes of sweet and simple moments together between the rush of getting ready for school and waving goodbye for the day. We walk along the sea, looking at the hopeful fishermen mending their nets, dodging the old ladies walking backwards for their health, and commenting every day on the same little dog sitting in the same little spot, eating its little kibble. Its the same every day and I love that every day its interesting for Vivian.
Vivian went to school today, unlike most Wednesdays, when she stays at home. It was a particularly good morning, because she wore her new yellow boots for the first time. She has been dying to wear them for a year, ever since I bought them on the clearance table last winter. She has been waiting and waiting for them to fit.
She hatched a plan on the way to school this morning. She decided that it would be a great day for me to come to school at 3:30 and ride the school bus home with her. She was very earnest about it, laying out the pros and cons in her most sincere and convincing manner. I will admit that if I had a car at my disposal today (don't), or was up for a 20-minute hell ride in a Chinese taxi (not) I would probably do it. Just because it would be a tiny thing that would bring her so much joy.
